Welcome to Historic Downtown Branson

Creating Experiences You’ll Remember For A Lifetime!

Downtown is where Branson got its start around 1888.  It’s a shopping and entertainment destination with the flavor of an “old time” Main Street, preserved building facades, brick sidewalks and Victorian lamp posts.  Historic downtown Branson is located just east of Hwy 65 along the shores of Lake Taneycomo.

Today, Lake Taneycomo is a premier trout-fishing stream that offers visitors the opportunity to spend a relaxing day sightseeing or fishing on the water. In the mid 1920’s the lake earned its reputation as a pristine fishing spot.

Visitors from near and far will find
 a unique shopping opportunity in
 Downtown Branson’s 60 retail
stores. Visitors can also enjoy a
wide range of dining choices and
 historic points of interest.

Downtown Branson has a flavor of America’s old time mercantile
district.  Its historic railroad depot on Main Street is now home to Branson Scenic Railway, which
offers rides through the countryside in authentic 1950’s luxury passenger cars.

Downtown Branson is rich in history with 19 historic sites.  Guided historic walking tours are available by appointment, or you may take the tour on your own, with a map provided by the Downtown Branson Main Street Association at 119 W. Pacific Street. The self-guided tour map is also available by calling 417-334-1548.

Visitors are welcome at the Branson History Museum at 119 W. Pacific Street free of charge. The Museum is part of the Branson History Project, and both are sponsored by the Downtown Branson Main Street Association.

Everywhere downtown, whether you’re strolling down the brick lined
sidewalks, riding in an old-time horse drawn carriage, or relaxing on the Downtown Discovery Trolley, your imagination steps back to a simpler time.

The Historic District's neighbor is Branson Landing, a new lifestyle center with over a mile of boardwalk area along Lake Taneycomo. Branson Landing includes many opportunities for shopping, dining, and entertainment centered around fountains and the Hilton Promenade Hotel. Also located in downtown is Branson's new Convention Center, open in September 2007. The Convention Center offers a variety of conference and meeting rooms and exhibit areas, adjoining the new Hilton Convention Center Hotel. To visit the Convention Center's website go to: www.bransonconvention.com

 Branson Landing

 Opened in May 2006.

Branson's entertainment district called "The Strip" is directly west of Downtown on Highway 76 Country Boulevard. For information about Branson's other attractions and entertainment, visit the Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce at: www.explorebranson.com
